Continuous development of manufactures logistics

Paul Craemer GmbH, a medium sized enterprise based in Westphalia, employs around 650 staff in three European countries generating a yearly turnover of approximately 100 million Euros. Craemer’s core business activities are metal casting, the processing of plastics and tool making.

On the one hand Craemer delivers to the automobile and electronic industries, and on the other hand it supplies the international markets with plastic goods such as transport and storage receptacles, plastic pallets and refuse containers in every possible size.

The requirements

Craemer sees logistics as a field of continuous development. This implies on one side that a long term strategy will be designed, while on the other side a multitude of individual projects will ensure the logistical advancement of the company.

viaLog’s input

viaLog, as in-house planner, has conducted several projects at Craemer:

  • Development of a long term works masterplan
  • Drawing up and implementation of a concept for material flow, storage and picking in the areas of metal and plastic
  • Drawing up of specification requirements and the tendering of a warehouse management system
  • Make or buy-analysis

The solution

Consequently this results in an unusual scene. Craemer has a clear logistics orientation and applies this accordingly. Many projects are consciously implemented in small stages such as, for example, the introduction of the warehouse management system which took place over three phases.
Craemer concentrates on the sub-projects which have the highest priority and viability. Over the years many sub-projects combine to create an outstanding and efficient logistics!
